Isn't Backstrom seeing a specialist about a potential serious and nagging injury?
- Rocktane
He is. From what I understand its concussion-related and they are trying to keep things hush-hush for now to limit concern.
There is no certainty over if it is even a concussion, let alone word of how severe it could be if he does have one, but given his recent troubles it is indeed concerning.
We all know concussions are nothing to mess around with, so for the sake of hoping that it is nothing more than concern, I for one wish him a quick recovery. He's already dealt with the nightmarish scenario that comes with concussions so hopefully this is all precautionary.
That said, if he is indeed going to potentially miss time, including the start of the season, all the more reason for the Caps to be thankful they shored up their depth at Center.
Though missing out on Backstrom has been one the biggest blows this team has suffered over the last couple years, having Ribeiro and Johansson ready to carry the load while #19 is out is more comforting than the idea of Laich or MJ90 lining up as the #1C.
I'll do some digging to see if I can get any info on his status and update the blog/comments accordingly.
